SHIELD
2017
5 flags and a wall-hanging (wood, upholstery fabric, wool, vinyl, leather)
First shown at the India Club, London

SHIELD consists of outlines of a person struggling with, and slowly lowering a shield shaped object.
Referring to both personal and political shielding, the work invites viewers to engage and use the off-white flags, which can be detached from their base on the wall.
The flags are accompanied by a wall-hanging depicting a person hugging a shield rather than hiding behind it.

The work has been kindly supported by Arts Promotion Centre Finland.
