2012-
Site-specific viewing platforms (wood, waste pipe, fixings)

Observatories are temporary structures for detailed landscape viewing.
Built site-specifically to each location, the devices encourage passers-by to look through a set of waste pipe binoculars. By showing only small fractions of the landscape, the observatories seek to re-contextualise the mundane, positioning it amongst the other sights in the area. Through their form and arbitrary collection of sights, the viewing platforms imitate touristic strategies used to showcase historical and picturesque locations and create new reference points between the observer, their body, and the surrounding environment.

Observatories have been realised in the following locations:
Saari Manor Sculpture path, Mietoinen (2022)
Barfotastigen, outdoor sculpture exhibition, Korppoo (2015)
Night of the Arts, Helsinki (2014)
Berlin (2014)
