talk me tender is a conversational artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot realised with artist Bang Geul Han. It comprises of a website interface where viewers can have conversations with an imaginary, anthropomorphised piece of space junk that’s slowly falling back to earth, after helping to launch a satellite. The online chatbot is trained on feminist texts concerning themes of care and mortality engaging a more relational understanding of technological waste. Two months after the launch of the project, the space junk fell into the ocean. At this point, the AI, together with its website interface, also went dark. In the installation the interactive website was accompanied by hand-dyed second-hand blanket depicting embroidered trajectory of falling space junk, and memory foam cushions with embroidered outlines of space junk for sitting and laying down.
